About our Senior Management

Jim Seurer Chief Executive Officer

Jim Seurer joined the GLE team as the Chief Finance Officer in 2007 and then assumed the Chief Executive Officer responsibilities in late 2008.

Jim grew up in the north central South Dakota farm and ranch community of Hoven just east of the Missouri River. He graduated from Northern State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in both Accounting and Business Management.

After a brief time of employment with state government, Jim moved to Colorado and began an eighteen year period working in the credit union industry, first as a federal credit union examiner with the National Credit Union Administration and then as a CFO at a fast-growing credit union.  During the second half of his fourteen years of federal service, Jim worked exclusively with Boards of Directors of troubled and financially challenged institutions throughout the central and southwestern US to develop capital restoration and asset improvement plans. As a CFO in a fast-growing credit union, Jim helped develop strategic plans to capitalize on consumer banking opportunities in the highly competitive Denver metro market.

Jim returned to South Dakota accepting the position of CFO of South Dakota Soybean Processors near Brookings, SD.

Jim is a licensed CPA (inactive) in the state of Colorado and he is also a member of the Colorado Society of CPAs.


Marcy Kohl Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs

Marcy Kohl joined the GLE team in 2001 holding various positions and currently serves as the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs.

Marcy has over 10 years of experience in marketing, public and investor relations, IT Management, Administration Management, document writing, promotional events, stock trading management, and customer service.

During her career, Marcy has held the position of Assistant Director of the Watertown Convention & Visitors Bureau where she was responsible for attracting organizations and visitors to the City and assisting with planning of their events. She has also managed a recruiting firm placing quality candidates in regional businesses.

Marcy received a degree in office administration and management from Lake Area Technical College and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management degree at Mount Marty University.


Dan Luckett
Director of Operations

Dan Luckett joined the GLE team in April 2024 as Director of Operations. He has forty years’ experience in process engineering and operations, project, and plant management across a wide range of industries, including 17+ years in the ethanol industry.

Dan grew up in Illinois and Montana and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University. Additionally, he earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University.

Dan began his career in metals smelting and refining and worked in manufacturing, consulting, civil engineering design prior to starting in ethanol. He worked as a Process Design Engineer for Delta-T, then moved to construction and commissioning of a half dozen ethanol plants across the U.S. Dan then moved into plant management for four different ethanol plants from Iowa to Oregon.

Dan’s background and experience are particularly suited to debottlenecking and optimizing plant operations and production and helping drive performance.

Dan also has extensive experience in executing capital improvement projects and driving projects to meet cost and schedule requirements.


John R Marshall Chief Financial Officer

John comes to GLE with 37 years of professional finance, accounting, tax, operations, and strategic planning experience, including 19 years in banking and financial services, and 15 years in agricultural commodities processing and trading.

John started his career with Cargill, where he spent 13 years in audit, accounting, finance, and controllership positions in the United States and overseas. After leaving Cargill, John joined Lyon Financial Services, a successful small-ticket leasing company, as its Chief Financial Officer. Over 37 years John has worked for Cargill, LFS, Schwan’s, U.S. Bank, as well as in senior-level finance roles in the manufacturing and community banking industries. He also ran a niche business advisory and consulting services practice. His areas of industry focus are agricultural commodity trading and processing, banking, equipment finance and international business.

John’s technical background includes extensive experience in financial and managerial accounting, strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, direct and indirect tax, treasury and cash management, commodity and financial risk management, and internal controls. He has extensive international experience, including over five years living and working in Latin America. John holds bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Spanish Language/Literature from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a master’s degree in business administration from Metropolitan State University in the Twin Cities. He is a licensed CPA in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and a Certified Lease & Finance Professional.


Ty Weisendanger Director of Commodities and Risk Management

Ty joined the Glacial Lakes Energy team in September 2020 as the Ethanol Marketing Manager and assumed the role of Director of Commodities and Risk Management in February 2021.

He has been employed in the Ethanol Industry since 2004. He has 28 years of commodity trading experience ranging from working on the floor at the Chicago Board of Trade, Grain Merchandising and Ethanol Risk Management.

Prior to joining GLE, Ty was the Vice President of Trading and Commodities for Advanced BioEnergy for 11 years. Prior to this position he spent time at US Bio Energy in MN as Director of Commodity Price Risk and United BioEnergy in KS as Manager of Commodity Price Risk. In the early years of his career, he held positions of Grain Desk Manager, Grain Manager and Field Marketer.

Ty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Monmouth College in Illinois. He has held Series 3 and Series 30 brokerage licenses. He as taught Ethanol Risk Management classes for IHS Markit (formerly Informa Economics.)
